About The Insider

The University of Georgia Insider is an online, student produced resource presented to the students of UGA from the Student Government Association. The Insider's purpose is to be a continuous, accurate, genuine, and updated resource for all students, with a particular focus on incoming students. It was born out of the desire to answer a simple question, "What do I wish I had known as an incoming student at UGA?"; as well as the need to consolidate the vast amount of information available to students on various websites into one, user-friendly presentation. We also want to provide a bit of student opinion and insight on particular issues. It is our belief and philosophy that the best insight into student life at UGA comes from the students.

The result is a student-to-student source of inside information, tips, and facts that every student should learn. This has been a project almost two years in the making that started with the 2007 Freshman Board of SGA. It was later adopted as a project by two 2008-2009 Franklin College SGA Senators. With the help of a web designer, the site was first produced for the Summer 2009 orientation students. It is currently maintained by the Student Government Association.

Whether you are looking for bus routes, class GPA's, or the best way to sign up for football tickets, the UGA Insider is here to serve you. It is our sincerest hope that this website will be of service to you and aid you as you find your way in the UGA community. Thank you for visiting and GO DAWGS!

Staff

Jordan Tate, Director of Development.

Jordan will graduate from UGA in December 2009 with degrees in Psychology, Public Relations, and a New Media Certificate. A Peachtree City, GA native, Jordan became involved with the Insider project during his 2008-2009 term as an SGA Franklin Senator. His passion for the purpose and vision of the site is a huge part of what propelled this site to completion.
Josh Delaney, Director of Content.

Josh will graduate from UGA in May of 2011 with degrees in Advertising, Theatre, and a New Media Certificate. A Fayetteville, GA native, Josh was a member of the original 2007 Freshman Board where the Insider concept originated. As a 2008-2009 Franklin Senator, he solicited the help of Jordan Tate and Ryan Bailey to bring this vision to reality and is very proud of the result.

Ryan Bailey, Web Designer and Developer.

Ryan will graduate from UGA in May of 2010 with a degree in Biology and Management Information Systems. A Marietta, GA native, he was brought onto the Insider project from outside of SGA. Much of what you see on the site is owed to his vision, expertise, and creativity.

Scott Hardman and Michelle Kim, the SGA Webmasters, will be taking over the administration of this site in the Fall of 2009.

SGA

The Student Government Association is the governing body and the collective, representative voice of the UGA student body. It is a traditional three branch government with UGA-wide elections taking place each spring for the subsequent term. Students elect senators from their college and an executive ticket which includes the President, Vice-President, and Treasurer. SGA acts to advocate on behalf of students as the student voice in campus matter. Weekly meetings are each Tuesday at 7pm and opened to all students. All are encouraged to come and share their opinions and you can learn more at the SGA Website .

Future Plans

It is our hope that this site will continue to be a valuable resource for UGA students for years to come. It will get bigger and better every year. The content will be updated at least monthly with the Twitter updates happening by the minute. If this site should ever have information that is grossly outdated, contact us immediately and also inform your SGA representative. So check back regularly for new information!

Contact Us!

When designing this site, we tried to to answer the question: "What do I wish I had known as an incoming student at UGA?". Hopefully, we have answered everything and provided an accurate picture of the University of Georgia. Questions? Comments? Corrections? Suggestions? Complaints? Compliments? The UGA Insider is always a work in progress and we warmly welcome the feedback of our fellow students.
